Projects

We have had the honor to work with many valuable partners on inspiring projects and, in the process, have developed meaningful relationships built on trust and mutual learning. Many of our projects have led to long-term partnerships and deep collaborations.

Recent projects include:

B Corp Leadership Development (BLD) PNW hosted by B Local PDX

Led the team that created and designed the B Corp Leadership Development Conference for the Pacific Northwest in 2020, which brought together leaders in the business community who support a triple bottom line: putting people, planet and profit in equal priority in their business practices. Kel has participated in planning and organizing this annual event from 2018-2023.

Storyfort 2022

Collaborated on the design and production of a panel uplifting Salmon Stories, a program led by Olivia Leigh Nowak with Indigneous leaders from across Salmon Nation at the annual festival focused on storytelling, a sub-festival of Treefort in Boise, ID.

Center for Indigenous Fisheries

A close collaborator, Olivia Leigh Nowak of Le Colibri Studio, and I have worked with this partner on multiple events including the Canadian Conference For Fisheries Research (CCFFR-SCL 2022) as well as the Indigenous fisheries in Nayaano-nibiimaang Gichigamiin, a virtual gathering bringing together Indigenous voices to support Sea Lamprey research.

International Indigenous Salmon Seas Symposium

Hosted by Se’Si’Le, this was a multi-day event bringing together Indigenous leaders from Russia, Alaska and Washington to share and build unity around the desire to protect Wild Salmon. The events included small group forums and discussions as well as a larger public gathering. We supported this event with livestreaming. Done in collaboration with Le Colibri Studio.

Spirit of the Waters Totem Pole Journey

Hosted by Se’Si’Le, This journey was a multi-week trip around the Columbia River Watershed with an orca totem carved by the House of Tears Carvers of the Lummi Nation in support of the removal of the Lower Four Snake River Dams. We supported this through live streaming and communications.

Nusq’lst Village Stutu7apsulh

We collaborated on this community building event hosted by Nuskmata, who is leading the rebuilding of her ancestral village on Nuxalk territory, which has not been populated since the time before the smallpox outbreak in 1862. This event was to inform and involve the community (Nuxalkmc and other residents of the Bella Coola Valley) by hosting a day of fun activities and feasting at the village site. We supported with organization and production of the event.

Festival of What Works

In 2020 and 2021, we led the creation and design of a unique, week-long, online celebration of community-led approaches to living well in place in Salmon Nation—from the northern California coast to the slopes of Alaska and in between–that spotlights who and what you need to know to build a bioregion where people, culture, and nature all thrive.

Peace & Unity

Supporting the Wet’suwet’en and Gitxsan Nations in collaboration with Le Colibri Studio in hosting an alliance-building summit for Nations across BC to stand against harmful extraction, specifically the Coastal GasLink natural gas pipeline being drilled under the sacred Wedzin Kwa River. The summer event brought leaders from numerous nations together to share stories from the heart and offer an opportunity to experience the beauty of their Yintah (Wet’suwet’en land). This project was started in 2022 and is an ongoing partnership.
